Thursday 15th November marked a very special day for Link Age Southwark as we celebrated our 25th birthday with a gala dinner at Dulwich College. The gala was the last of a whole year of birthday events with 250 guests arriving to celebrate with us.
The evening started with a drinks reception accompanied by music from the wonderful Dulwich College Jazz Band. We then proceeded to the Great Hall for a delicious three course meal with Dulwich College Headmaster and Link Age Southwark Ambassador, Dr Joe Spence, leading the room in an hilarious game of Tops and Tails. Fellow Ambassadors, Robert Glenister and Dr Rosemary Leonard, read testimonials from two of the older people we work with before Jo Brand took to the stage as our guest speaker.
Our silent auction ran throughout the night raising a fantastic final amount. Prizes included holidays to Bali and Iceland, exclusive theatre tickets and lunch with our Ambassador, Iain Glen.
We were lucky to have a fantastic photographer for the evening capturing some wonderful moments from the night. If you would like to see some, check out the video collage below:
The gala was a great success, raising £25,000 – a fitting number for our 25th birthday year! This money will help us to continue running our services for older people in Southwark, enabling us to reach more people who are experiencing loneliness and isolation
Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening so special. It’s an event we will remember for many years to come.
Here’s to another 25 years of making Southwark a great place to go old in!
