The Recent Passing Of Our Founder Ted Salmon

A message from our Chair, Katharine St. John-Brooks

It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of Ted Salmon on 8 July 2017. Ted was the prime mover behind the launch in 1993 of Dulwich Helpline which merged with Southwark Churches Care in 2012, and became Link Age Southwark in 2015. He chaired Dulwich Helpline for 18 years with great energy, ingenuity and compassion and never lost an opportunity to promote the interests of older people in Southwark. His wife Jenny has also been an indefatigable supporter and volunteer. In spite of failing health Ted remained a trustee of Link Age Southwark until last year and has been a very supportive Joint President of the charity with Baroness Jowell. His unfailing kindness, generosity of spirit and wisdom has been a great support to me personally since I took over chairing the charity. We shall all miss him greatly.

Best wishes

Katharine
