The first week of October was Get Online Week.
The week long campaign was organised by the Good Things Foundation and encouraged older people to try one new thing online. This could be as simple as learning how to use Google, send an email or watch a video on YouTube.
Alongside our weekly computer group at James Allens’ Girls School, we held a taster session to encourage older people to get involved. We partnered attendees with a volunteer who talked them through anything they wanted to learn.
The week was a huge success and we were delighted to take part.
Getting online is a fantastic way for our older neighbours and friends to stay connected to their families and communities. We run weekly inter-generational computer sessions and if you or anyone you know would like to get involved, please don’t hesitate to get in contact on 020 8299 2623 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
