Community Support

We have two volunteer roles available to support our work by connecting with people in the local community:

Fundraising Committee Volunteer

Our Community Fundraising volunteers do a fantastic job raising money to fund our services through an annual calendar of fundraising events. The committee meets 4-6 times a year to discuss and plan events which can be anything from a wine tasting to a pub quiz, bridge competition or dance evening.

Some of the responsibilities may include:

  • attending regular meetings
  • leading on fundraising events
  • thinking of new event ideas and ways to boost our fundraising efforts
  • assist at events by helping to set up, look after a stand/stall at a community event
  • support our promotion of events through social media, posting publicity in your local community
  • bake cakes or produce handicrafts that can be sold or raffled at events

Neighbourhood Champion

Our Neighbourhood Champions are a group of volunteers raising awareness of Link Age Southwark in their local communities. This role is about promoting out volunteering opportunities, services and events, building connections with local organisations and alerting us to opportunities within the borough of Southwark in order to help support and grow the charity.

Some of the responsibilities may include:

  • volunteering for approximately 1 hour per week
  • identifying and connecting with local businesses who could support Link Age Southwark by providing raffle prizes or hosting a fundraising event e.g. pub quiz
  • putting up flyers for upcoming events in your neighbourhood
  • promoting our services and volunteering opportunities amongst your contacts
  • finding local community events for Link Age Southwark to have a stand with leaflets, promoting our services and volunteering opportunities
  • placing and collecting coin collection tins in cafés, restaurants, shops etc.
